Corrections policy
We get things wrong sometimes, and firms change their rules without telling anyone. When a figure is wrong we fix it in the open, date it, and keep the old value on record.
How to report an error
Send the page on our site, what is wrong, and a link to the firm's own page (or another primary source) that shows the correct figure. Use the correction form, a GitHub issue, or the routes on the contact page. Firms correcting their own data use the same process.
What we do
- Acknowledge within 3 business days.
- Re-verify on the firm's own site, not just the report. If the source supports the change, we update the data; if it does not, we reply with what we found.
- Publish the fix: the field, the old value, the new value and the date go into the change log marked "Correction", and the firm page's "last verified" date updates.
- Re-score automatically: the PA Score is recalculated from the corrected data on the next build.
What counts as a correction
A figure we recorded wrongly or missed (for example a cheaper program we had not captured) is a correction. A firm changing its price or rules is a rule change, logged as such. We keep both apart so the change log stays an honest record of what firms actually did.
What we will not do
- Remove accurate, sourced information because a firm asks.
- Change a score, rank or status without a change in the underlying data or evidence.
- Delete old values: corrected figures stay in the log.
Caution and closed statuses have their own review route with evidence: status rule and request a review.
