Prop firm consistency rules, firm by firm
A consistency rule caps how much of your total profit can come from one day. At a 40% cap, a $6,000 best day means you need $15,000 in total profit before you can pass or get paid; at 15% you need $40,000. We checked 27 prop firms on their own pages: 27 have a consistency rule on at least one program, with best-day caps from 15% to 55%.
How the rule works
Firms divide your biggest winning day by your total profit. If that share is above the cap, the firm either holds your payout until you trade more, keeps you from passing, or (rarely) treats it as a breach. Profit needed = best day ÷ cap. $6,000 ÷ 40% = $15,000. $6,000 ÷ 20% = $30,000. $6,000 ÷ 15% = $40,000.
Most firms apply it to one stage only: some in the challenge, some only on the funded account before a payout. The same firm can have no rule on one program and a strict one on another, so the table has one row per program and stage.

What to do with it
If most of your profit tends to come from one or two big days, look for programs marked No consistency rule, or plan to keep trading normal-sized days until the share falls under the cap. If the rule only delays payouts, a big day is not a failure: you need more total profit before you can withdraw. Check whether the cap is measured against total profit, profit since your last payout, or the profit target, because that changes the maths.
FAQ
What is a consistency rule at a prop firm?
It limits how much of your total profit can come from a single trading day, for example no day above 40% of total profit.
How much profit do I need if my best day is $6,000?
Divide the best day by the cap: $15,000 at 40%, $30,000 at 20%, $40,000 at 15%.
Does breaking the consistency rule fail my account?
Usually not. At most firms it delays a payout or keeps you from passing until your other days catch up. Each row in the table says what that firm does.
Which prop firms have no consistency rule?
Filter the table by 'No consistency rule'. We only mark a program that way when the firm's own page says so.
